What is Fimo/ Polymer clay?

Fimo is a type of clay that is in the plastics family. It comes in coloured blocks that you can mix together to make new colours. So nothing I make is painted.

Once you make what you want, you bake it in a normal oven at 110oc for at least half an hour.

I do use mica powders on some of my work. These are very fine dust-like powders in either metallic or pearlescent colours. The clay colours interact with the powders, so it is far more complicated than just adding a topcoat.

I also put a coat of gloss varnish on the finished item as I prefer it to the mat finish the clay has.
